Shes continually in clash with the tough Vampire Council, who would be pretty chuffed if she vanished forever. Anyhow, I was brooding about the clichs of some category stories, and I made up my mind to spoof them. But I do not like angsty, whiney vampires, particularly the wealthy ones. I suspect rich, classy vampires would most likely be fairly pleased with themselves, so I popped up with my snobby, accomplished vamps. What is it about vampires? Why do you believe theyre such die-hard, entrancing fiends? Many of us find the mixture of blood, sex, and never-ending life to be terribly exciting. Told in first person from Milagros standpoint, our story starts as our hero attends a book party to honor her conceited, snob ex-boyfriend Sebastian. Later that night, in his hotel room, they incidentally kiss and exchange blood. An event which has heavy consequences for Milagro, who shortly begins feeling ill. Yes, Milagro is commonly smart and her pointy humor will make you laugh out, but theres also a naive, scatterbrained, lost quality about her that's quite charming and that potentially has to do with her nasty relationship with her ma, who hasn't in her life accepted her and who is discussed offhanded across the story. This is a fun book to enjoy on those long summer afternoons. If you like humor, vampires, and a splattered of Latino flavor, Id counsel you give this one a try. It always gets an emotional reaction, but its inexpensive and straightforward to do. Nathan Barker of Kayleighbug Books told me that he checks thru love books because so many good horror books are being sold as loves. What's the scariest book you have ever read? Scariest movie? I made the error of reading William Peter Blattys The Exorcist when I was younger. I suspect The Thing is actually under appreciated. Gothic, a collection of 5 horror stories. One personality claims, Im happy you were holding my hand. The other personality claims, But I was across the room. What are your plans for this Halloween? We have family birthdays on Halloween and Nov one, so there are sometimes family parties.

Review of cheap booze hour at Casa Dracula, by Marta Acosta.
My Casa Dracula books follow the journeys of a smart, funny, attractive young lady, Milagro, who gets infected by a condition some would call vampirism.
